What Causes Plantar Fasciitis?

And why is your foot pain not getting better?

Plantar Fasciitis

The bottom of your foot has a type of tissue called the plantar fascia.  Sometimes this tissue can become tight and irritated, causing intense pain from the heel along the sole of the foot.

This can be hard to resolve when you are not able to rest the area.

Tendon Injury

A common cause of heel pain is irritation of the tendon called the tibialis posterior.  This causes acute pain in front of the heel of the foot, causing pain on weight bearing.

This is often aggravated by wearing very flat soled shoes.

The Pimlico Plantar Fasciitis Programme

Here at Pimlico Osteopathy we have helped 1000's of patients just like you with our 3 Step Plantar Fasciitis Program

1) Comprehensive Foot Assessment

Our knowledgeable and experienced therapists will carry out a comprehensive assessment, looking in detail at:

  • Your foot and ankle mechanics and range of movement.
  • Your gait - the mechanics of the way you walk.
  • Your footwear.
  • Your exercise history.

This enables us to accurately diagnose your foot pain and formulate the right treatment plan to get you moving again, pain free.

2) Hands On Treatment

Our committed team use a very much hands on manual therapy treatment approach to get you out of pain and back on the road to recovery.

This may include but will not be limited to:

  • Soft and deep tissue techniques to the muscles in the area.
  • Mobilisation techniques to improve your quality and range of movement, to gently start to get you moving again.
  • Dry needling techniques to reduce pain and inflammation.
  • Taping and strapping to support structures of the foot during recovery.

2) Prescription Insoles

If appropriate, our knowledgeable team will conduct a detailed examination and review of the way you walk and/or run and may prescribe custom insoles for you.

This can often be a vital step in breaking the cycle of pain and inflammation in plantar fasciitis cases, as it helps to support and correct the natural biomechanics of your foot.

Step 3 - Recovery

Each treatment aims to gently and progressively get your foot and ankle moving again without pain, as quickly as possible, to allow you to get back to normal and start doing the things you love.

We will give you a structured rehabilitation exercise program, to help break the cycle and prevent the problem from returning.
