What Causes Plantar Fasciitis?

And why is your foot pain not getting better?

Plantar Fasciitis

The bottom of your foot has a type of tissue called the plantar fascia.  Sometimes this tissue can become tight and irritated, causing intense pain from the heel along the sole of the foot.

This can be hard to resolve when you are not able to rest the area.

Tendon Injury

A common cause fo heel pain is irritation of the tendon called the tibialis posterior.  This causes acute pain in front of the heel of the foot, causing pain on weight bearing.

This is often aggravated by wearing very flat soled shoes.

How Does Shockwave Therapy Work?

Shockwave therapy is also known as as radial pressure shockwave therapy.  It is a newly available treatment for the management of pain caused by various musculoskeletal disorders and injuries.

A shock wave is an intense, short energy wave that moves faster than the speed of sound. This energy wave is used to target painful areas in musculo-skeletal tissues. The energy accelerates the healing process by switching on the body’s own healing mechanisms.

These healing mechanisms have often been interrupted when the body gets into a an inflammatory cycle such as in a case of tendonitis.
