What Causes Plantar Fasciitis?

And why is your foot pain not getting better?

Plantar Fasciitis

The bottom of your foot has a type of tissue called the plantar fascia.  Sometimes this tissue can become tight and irritated, causing intense pain from the heel along the sole of the foot.

This can be hard to resolve when you are not able to rest the area.

Tendon Injury

A common cause of heel pain is irritation of the tendon called the tibialis posterior.  This causes acute pain in front of the heel of the foot, causing pain on weight bearing.

This is often aggravated by wearing very flat soled shoes.

The Plantar Fasciitis Program

Here at iPhysio Australia we have helped 1000s of patients just like you with our 3 Step Plantar Fasciitis Program.

Step 1 - Comprehensive Foot and Ankle examination

Our experiened and knowledgable practitioners will examine :

  • Your foot and ankle range of movement
  • Your joint alignment
  • The biomechanics of the way your walk
  • Your muscle strength and tone

To identify exactly what is causing your foot pain.

Step 2 -Latest Technology for Plantar Fasciitis Treatment

Shockwave therapy is a targeted and effective treatment approach to many types of irritation and calcification of tendons.

Shockwave therapy is delivered non-invasively through the skin and is often indicated in those whose injury have not responded to other forms of treatment.

iPhysio Australia has invested in both radial and focused Shockwave therapy to provide the latest technology for their patients with heel pain and plantar fasciitis. Treatment is in combination with hands on treatment to the tissues and joint around your foot and ankle.

Shockwave therapy is used in combination with:

  • Hands on treatment and joint mobilisation
  • Acupuncture.

Step 2 - Custom Orthotics

Our treatment program will be tailored to your specific injury. If appropriate, we may prescribe custom orthotics, to help correct any alignment or biomechanical issues, that may be contributing to your Plantar Fasciitis injury.

Orthotics can help to address any underlying issues predisposing you to this type of injury and help prevent any reoccurrence in the future.

Our custom orthotics are made from a cast of your foot for the perfect fit and are long lasting.

Step 3 - Recovery

Each treatment aims to gently and progressively get your foot and ankle moving again without pain, as quickly as possible, to allow you to get back to normal and start doing the things you love.

We will give you a structured rehabilitation exercise program, to help break the cycle and prevent the problem from returning.

If appropriate for your specific case, we may introduce shockwave into your treatment plan.

How Does Shockwave Therapy Work?

Acoustic waves are generated by the Shockwave trigger.  These have biological effects which can help to:

  • Reverse chronic inflammation that is very common in bursitis and tendon injuries.
  • Stimulate collagen production, a vital substance in natural tissue repair.
  • Dissolution of calcium fibroblasts which are often part of the problem in ongoing tendon injuries and bursitis pain.

Is The Plantar Fasciitis Program Right For You?

This program may be the solution for you if:

  • Your are struggling with ongoing pain in your heel or sole of your foot.
  • Your pain is worse first thing in the morning and is slowing you down.
  • You are avoiding getting out and about for walks, and just want to get back to normal.
  • You have been told to have an injection and would like to avoid this.
  • You are worried that your pain isn't getting better and it's getting you down.
  • You have tried other treatments but the pain came back again.
